Homelessness Support Worker Jobs

Supporting people to– budget management, paying bills, housework, organising appointments and cooking delicious healthy meals.

Excellent communication skills/relationship building – supporting the person to understand the world around them and promoting positive relationships.

Personal care - helping people to get ready for the day and assisting with bathing, showering and using the bathroom.

All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check, Covid vaccination status and suitable references.

24 days holiday (plus bank holidays)

Service related sick pay when 6 month probation is completed

Support Umbrella program staff in implementing specific classroom and child management techniques, as recommended by the Inclusion Supervisor

Medical background experience, administration of insulin with meals using adjustable dose pen and recording blood sugar readings

Experience implementing appropriate strategies to ensure adequate nots of reading, administering medication and meal choices

Demonstrates awareness and knowledge of How Does Learning Happen is an asset

Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Clerical duties such as answering the telephone, writing information on menu cards and checking cards against lists.

Cleans items such as furniture, contact points, ledges, vents, mirrors and equipment.

Reports inoperable equipment or damaged, unsafe equipment or building surfaces in accordance with established procedures

Performs other related duties as assigned

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Provide case management supports for identified households with a focus on housing stabilization.

Proven computer skills, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and experience with HIFIS

Identify opportunities for short term diversion from homelessness with a focus on long term stabilization.

Provide crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and use negotiation skills, as necessary

Minimum of 3 years work experience in Social Services Programs or Community Related Agency engaging with diverse populations

Post-secondary education in Social and Behavioral Sciences, Community Development, or equivalent discipline

Establish a respectful relationship with the people we support which provides for an enriching and dignified experience and opportunities

Promote the people we support to develop decision-making skills, exercise choices and assume reasonable risks.

Facilitate and assist the people we support to keep their finances in order

Ability to work effectively as a team member, possess initiative, Excellent written and verbal communication Skills

Facilitate and support the development of social networks for the people we support

Be responsible to facilitate and assist the people we support to keep their personal belongings in order

•High School Diploma or an acceptable/equivalent combination of education and experience
