Job Description

The House of Commons Digital Services and Real Property team is currently looking to staff the Telecommunications Officer position.

Working in a Call centre environment, the Telecommunications Officer provides first level support and is responsible for the resolution of technical issues/problems and the fulfillment of requests related to telecommunication matters concerning products and services. This would include extended services for travel, from Members of Parliament and their staff, including constituency offices, House Officers, House of Commons administration, and Hill partners (Library of Parliament, Senate, etc.).

As the Telecommunications Officer, working in a Call centre environment, you provide first-level support and are responsible for interacting with clients to analyze and resolve technical problems and fulfill requests related to telecommunication hardware, software, applications, network, and infrastructure. This would include extended services for travel, from Members of Parliament and their staff, including constituency offices, House Officers, House of Commons administration, and Hill partners (Library of Parliament, Senate, etc.). You are also responsible for verifying issues and determining the appropriate resolution approach and for coordinating remote installations and establishing connections for committee activities. Additionally, you will conduct coaching and training sessions, track requests for service reviews, assess device replacements and repairs, draft documentation, participate in telecommunications projects, and contribute to organizing information sessions.

Working in a fast-paced environment, you exhibit strong self-management capabilities and handle pressure with composure and work effectively under tight deadlines.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Post-secondary degree in an IT related field OR acceptable combination of training and experience related to telecommunications services.

Experience:

  • Recent and extensive experience providing customer-focused service to high-profile clients (e.g. Members of Parliament, Executives, VIPs);
  • Experience and/or demonstrated capabilities in dealing with technical issues;
  • Experience and/or knowledge of various telecommunications products and services.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment;

Assets:

  • Experience with VOIP;
  • Experience in coordinating projects;
  • Technical expertise with mobile devices;
  • Experience in routine database updates and management.
  • Experience in handling purchase orders and procurement functions based on financial requirements;
