Natures Crops International (NCI), a leading manufacturer and supplier of specialty plant oils for use in personal care, dietary supplement, and food industries, has animmediateopening for a full-time Technical & Quality Manager at our oilseed processing facility and refinery in Kensington, Prince Edward Island, Canada. The Technical & Quality Manager will report to the VP of Operations.
The Technical & Quality Manager is responsible for meeting and exceeding quality objectives, product specifications, and standards in our specialty oil batch refinery. The successful candidate will be very familiar and have experience with fats and oils to ensure the quality and production of our oils is consistent with established standards and specifications. The Technical & Quality Manager is also responsible for troubleshooting technical challenges, while continuously seeking to improve our refining operation and quality of our oils.
Responsibilities
- Formulate and maintain quality objectives with production procedures in coordination with your research and development to maximize product quality and to minimize costs.
- Assist QA (as needed) with quality and food safety investigations, implement corrective actions, and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Document standard operating procedures, identify possible trends in testing results, and provide input to improve quality of products and quality system.
- Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to product quality, consistency, and reliability.
- Work directly with other managers and supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Comply with the facility’s certifications and regulatory approvals.
- Develop refining plans to deliver maximum results in a fast-paced business and regulatory environment.
- Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to improve the quality of finished product.
- Direct, monitor, and continuously improve operation of the refinery.
- Provide ongoing technical support, investigate quality concerns, and deliver improvement actions with follow up.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a technical leadership role.
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or another related scientific area of study. MSc considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills.
- Minimum 5 years of related work experience in an edible oil refinery.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong coaching skills, above average analytical skills.
Compensation and Benefits

- Position starts with five (5) weeks of paid time off with additional days given annually.
- Rate of pay is dependent on skills and experience.
