Survey Assistant Jobs

We are currently recruiting experienced Survey Assistant to join our growing team within the Cariboo region of British Columbia. Candidates should demonstrate experience performing quality and survey control on various civil construction projects with preference to mining with limited supervision and direction.

• Preference will be given to local candidates residing in the Williams Lake geographical area
• $36/hr start wage and Competitive Living Allowance provided to remote workers
• Daily Travel provided from Williams Lake to project location(s) beyond Williams Lake

General Duties & Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain equipment, maintain supplies, and ensure necessary physical resources are available in the field, with minimal supervision. May be required to use tools and equipment such as axe, sledge hammer, shovel, and survey tripod to complete assigned tasks.
• May be required to use hand and power tools
• Set-up and operation of survey equipment.
• Reviewing survey data for accuracy
• Assist with locating survey pins, plugs and monuments, staking, exposing shallow utility covers and markers, clearing weeds, brush and other obstacles
• Assisting surveyors with field work and data collection
• Follow directives received from Survey Technician to assist survey team.
• Prepare accurate field notes, as required.

Requirements

• Strict attention and compliance with equipment cleanliness, maintenance and completing logs
• Class 5 Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and ability to provide a clean Drivers Abstract
• Ability to complete mandatory internet-based Orientation and Indoctrination training and certification
• Ability to communicate and report effectively; Diligence and decisiveness; Strong desire to lifelong learning; Tech Savvy - aptitude in math/problem solving; Ability to maintain a professional demeanor
• Be safety conscious and extremely comfortable driving in all types of inclement weather to get to and from worksites or point of company-based transportation
• Ability to pass mandatory Drug/Alcohol pre-screen and obtain FIT test in advance of employment start date
• Willingness to learn and gain adequate knowledge and experience through training
• Effective communication and people skills
• Ability to interact positively with co-workers and supervisors
• Positive safety behaviours with ability to work safely and effectively while completing and following an FLHA
• EIT, GIT, Mine Tech, or Degree in relevant fields; Exceptional knowledge of GPS, GIS, AutoCAD, Survey (Topcon, Trimble) and MS Office; Proficient reading drawings, plans and blueprints
