Substation Ground Person Jobs

Valard Construction is Canada’s premier utility contractor, as well as head of the Valard Group of Companies and part of the Quanta Group, the largest electrical power contractor in North America. Valard has full-service capabilities for transmission, distribution, substations, foundations, telecommunications and renewable energy.
The Ground Person will work with the substation electricians, The successful candidate will have experience in construction or related trades, with knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems. The ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift heavy objects is required. The grounds person will work as part of a team, under the supervision of the Site Supervisor.
In preparation for upcoming projects, we are seeking Ground Person with electrical experience for work located in Whitehorse YT.
Requirements

• Communicate effectively with the project team and other trades on site
• Perform physical labour, including lifting heavy 50lbs objects repetitively and working at heights
• Other duties as assigned by the Project Manager or Site Supervisor
• Assist with inventory management and logistics
• Maintain a safe work environment, following all safety protocols and regulations
• Operate hand and power tools, including drills, saws, and cutting tools
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
• Assist with electrical and mechanical work, including wiring, conduit installation, and equipment installation

Qualifications:

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Effective communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Ability to lift heavy objects and work at heights
• Previous experience in construction or related trades

Working Conditions:
Work is primarily outdoors in various weather conditions
Physical labour is required, including lifting heavy objects and working at heights
Work may require travel and overnight stays
Personal protective equipment is required, including safety boots, hard hat, and safety glasses
