Cenovus is looking for a highly motivated and ambitious summer student to join our engineering function in the Lloydminster Upgrader. Our student positions provide opportunities to learn and apply engineering principles to help evaluate the candidates’ potential as possible future, full-time employees. Job performance will be reviewed periodically throughout and appraised at the end of the term, culminating with a formal presentation to a range of stakeholders and evaluators.

Responsibilities


  • ACAD and MicroStation drafting assignments
  • Preparing contract packages entailing design drafting of construction drawings, documentation, copying and registering documents using computerized Technical Document Management System
  • Field work within the process areas
  • Updating drawing and document registers
  • Drawing searches and printing


Qualifications


  • Available to begin work in September 2023
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation (e.g. work visa)


Education


  • Currently enrolled in Engineering Design or Electrical Engineering Technology program at an accredited post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies after the work term.


Skills / Competencies


  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD
  • Flexible to changing work demands and ability to prioritize
  • Critical thinker and ability to work independently with limited supervision in a fast-paced, high-performing, team environment

Working Conditions


  • May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.


Safety Sensitive


  • This may be a safety-sensitive role, and you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.
  • Safety sensitive positions require the operation of a motor vehicle, applicants are asked to provide a recent (i.e., issued within the previous 4 weeks) original driver is abstract, for the preceding 5-year period, if offered the position. A valid Canadian class 5 Driver's License with no restrictions (i.e., non GDL) is a requirement for this role


Relocation


Students moving for their work term may be eligible to receive a lump sum payment to assist with relocation expenses.


Note: Candidates must have their own means of transportation as there is no public transportation in field locations.
