Job Description
SNC-Lavalin Inc. is a global engineering and construction firm with offices across Canada, in over 35 other countries around the world and currently working in approximately 100 countries.
SNC-Lavalin is currently seeking a Student/Intern to join our Site Assessment & Remediation team to work out of our Fort St. John office. The successful candidate will join a local team focused on delivering high quality products for a variety of clients.
As a Student/Intern, you will be assisting in the completion of fundamental tasks related to Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, including groundwater monitoring and sampling, soil sampling, remedial excavations, and reclamation inspections. Other technical responsibilities may include assisting with project coordination, subcontractor supervision, cost tracking and report preparation for peer review.
The successful candidate will be mentored by a variety of environmental professionals (Engineers, Agrologists, Geologists, and Technologists) and will gain valuable experience in the environmental consulting industry.
Responsibilities
  • Communicating field observations to SNC-Lavalin project managers;
  • Participation in health and safety programs.
  • Participating in environmental and hydrogeological investigations including Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III environmental assessments and soil and groundwater sources and sampling programs;
  • Documentation of field activities and managing sample shipment to analytical labs;
  • Inter-regional collaboration on projects; and,
  • Preparation of technical reports;
Qualifications And Requirements
  • Exceptional organizational and innovative problem-solving skills; and
  • Ability to work and travel throughout Alberta and British Columbia;
  • Self-motivated, a team player and a high level of energy.
  • Enrolled in an applicable program with a focus on environmental science.
  • Ability to work independently and safely with minimal supervision and/or as a member of a team;
  • Valid driver’s licence;
  • Computer skills in MS Office;
  • Superior written and oral communication skills;
