Job Description

Altis Recruitment & Technology Inc. is looking for a data-driven wordsmith with flair. Someone with serious writing chops who has a journalist’s eye for developing trending topics combined with a marketer’s mind for boosting audience engagement. The ideal person comes to the table with fresh ideas and the skills to bring them to life with both panache and precision. If you find the overarching topic of the future of work fascinating, have experience in editorial and marketing writing and possess a varied portfolio of published work—from well-researched editorial pieces to snappy sales and marketing content—this could be your ideal role.

The Senior Writer will join a collaborative marketing team in a pivotal seat: you will create engaging, original copy for a range of channels—everything from long-form, editorial blog posts and SEO-driven web copy to engaging email copy and sales collateral. You will also help develop well-crafted content on behalf of senior leaders across the organization, surfacing timely topics that align with our core lines of business (e.g., IT, construction, healthcare, public service, etc.) and writing a fresh take that is tailored to our audience of employers and job-seekers.

You’re a strong, detail-oriented writer and editor, with in-depth knowledge of grammar, punctuation and CP Style. You’re naturally curious and a voracious reader, constantly consuming the latest news, industry insights and thought leadership, and then using sound business judgment to develop and publish compelling content across digital channels to engage target audiences.

You have a proven ability to research and fact-check and enjoy collaborating with colleagues to gather data and insights. You’re also passionate about positioning – always looking for ways to promote and differentiate our organization.

As a remote-by-choice organization, Altis offers remote work opportunities and private on-site offices, continued learning and development, a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. Please note that this is a full-time role - we are not looking for freelance support.

What you’ll be doing

  • Identify and manage relationships with journalists and industry publications to increase earned media coverage and share of voice.
  • Continuously identify ways to present thought leadership content in varied approaches, such as videos, podcasts, social media, OpEds, proactive media outreach, etc.
  • Write and edit compelling, well-researched, error-free branded content that adheres to our brand and style guidelines, elevates our thought leaders, promotes corporate initiatives and advances our corporate objectives (e.g., long-form insight pieces, website content, corporate videos, sales and marketing materials, email marketing, newsletter copy, video scripts, social content etc.).
  • Identify ways to communicate and present thought leadership content through third-party media and speaking engagements (i.e., as speakers at events or on podcasts, pitches to media outlets and industry newsletters, by tapping into LinkedIn News etc.) and on owned channels (i.e., events/webinars, video content, LinkedIn articles, podcasts, marketing and advertising copy, and/or other branded content).
  • Collaborate with members of the marketing team to gather ideas for the corporate editorial calendar, ensuring we publish content that aligns with business objectives, tells our story and promotes our brand.
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing team to brainstorm content aimed at engaging and attracting clients and candidates across industries and sectors.
  • Monitor a range of reliable sources (i.e., mainstream news media, social media, video, podcasts, etc.) to surface trending topics related to the labour market/workplace and develop timely social media/editorial content that helps elevate the profile of our thought leaders.
  • Help evolve/refresh corporate materials, such as sales and marketing decks, website copy, and style guidelines; help develop corporate narratives and positioning on various topics related to the labour market/workplace and our core industries/sectors, continuously identifying opportunities for commentary across traditional and social media.

Qualifications

  • A well-rounded portfolio of published work across a variety of digital channels required
  • Experience working in a PR capacity, developing pitches/narratives to secure earned media coverage considered an asset.
  • Deadline-driven multi-tasker with a keen eye for detail, superior writing, editing and proofreading skills, and a strong background in researching and fact-checking.
  • Solid understanding of SEO principles, digital marketing and lead generation strategies.
  • Collaborative team member who can work with leaders across the organization to gather insights, and research, write and produce branded content, ensuring it is consistent with the company’s style and voice, and optimized for search across media platforms.
  • Naturally curious and a voracious reader, always looking for trending news and insights, with a particular focus on the labour market, workplace and topics that appeal to today’s employers and job-seekers across industries and sectors.
  • A roll-up-your-sleeves-and-get-it-done attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team, demonstrating personal initiative to complete work on time.
  • 5-8 years of proven experience writing content in a business setting (i.e., business writing, content publishing or content marketing) for a variety of digital channels, including email, website/blog, and social media, particularly LinkedIn.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work well at all levels of an organization and interact confidently with senior leaders.
  • Strategic thinker and writer, with a proven ability to analyze various industry trends and data, translating them into content opportunities across relevant channels.
