Reporting to the Manager Community Development, the incumbent conducts community inspections and assessments on the financial, legislative and administrative performances of municipalities. The incumbent is also responsible for planning, delivery and management of the Department's Community Development Program to Municipalities in the Qikiqtaaluk Region, including Financial Monitoring, community development and training. The incumbent ensures the full training and development of all key staff, community partners and associations within the region and associated with the department. In context, the incumbent has an important role to play in ensuring the Tamapta Mandate is installed within the delivery of the Department's Community Development.


The incumbent is responsible for preparing financial analysis reports and make recommendations to the Manager, regarding the release or withholding of monthly contributions based upon financial irregularities. The successful candidate will work with the community Inspector(s) and Community Inspector Trainee in the analysis of financial data, legislative issues and overall administration issues from inspections or operational reviews, as well as, in preparing presentations to departmental staff and/or community council. The incumbent will supervise subordinate staff within established Human Resources guidelines and budget, in order to guarantee an effective, efficient, and motivated staff.


The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a completion of a Degree in Public or Business Administration or other relevant field combined with a minimum of three (3) years related experience working with Municipal Governments and minimum of one (1) year supervisory experience Employees.


The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut (Inuinnaqtun), English and French.


Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official language is an asset. Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit is an asset. Experience working in a cross-cultural environment and experience with ACCPAC accounting software is also an asset.
