Reporting to the Supervisor, Court Clerks, this position provides administrative and operational support to the court registry in Watson Lake, including ensuring the smooth running of circuit and Justice of the Peace courts, preparing court documents, making computer entries, taking and recording payments, keeping and organizing court records and responding to inquiries from various sources including the judiciary. In doing so, the incumbent deals with a high volume of sensitive and confidential information and is expected to meet very high standards of tact, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
The hours of work for this position are 9am - 1pm, Monday to Friday.

Essential Qualifications

- Experience independently performing administrative functions under time and volume pressures, preferably in a legal environment
- Experience performing court clerk responsibilities
- Successful completion of a post-secondary certificate or diploma in Clerking Courts, Legal or Office Administration will be considered an asset

- Experience using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel)

Conditions of Employment:
- Obtain Notary Public certification
- Have and maintain security clearance
- Valid Yukon Class 5 driver’s licence
- Wearing a uniform in court
- Working overtime with little or no notice
