Overview


The Quality Control Technician is responsible for sampling and testing of ready mix concrete to ensure that the final product meets the required specifications for any particular project. The position also acts as a front line representative of Lafarge at various work sites and will be required to travel between locations.


Responsibilities


  • Evaluating material properties for use in concrete production
  • Testing of concrete to ensure product quality
  • Researching and developing new concrete products
  • Analyzing and designing concrete mix designs
  • Ensuring a safe work place and maintain safety policies to ensure work safety and the protection of the public
  • Monitoring pours and working with customers on site to ensure product meets required specifications
  • Troubleshooting problems on project sites and at plants, including field investigations
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Optimizing of concrete production procedures


Qualifications


Education & Work Experience:


  • Completion of Civil Engineering of Technology program preferred
  • Some experience in construction, manufacturing or similar environment an asset
  • High School Graduation
  • Experience in ready-mix concrete is preferred


Knowledge & Skills


  • Team player with a willingness to learn and attention to detail
  • Class 5 Drivers License with clean abstract
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office – Word, Excel & Email)
  • Good verbal and written English communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills


Work Environment


  • Able to perform a variety of tasks, including moderate to heavy lifting
  • Must be able to work in outdoor and indoor work environments
  • Job will be camp based in remote locations
  • Must be physically fit and able to work long hours as required


Pre-employment medical including drug & alcohol testing, background checks consisting of employment verification, education verification, and a criminal record check may be required .
