Job Description

The Prep Brunch Cook is responsible for preparing all food items based on standardized recipes during our hours of operation while maintaining the highest standards to produce an appealing and appetizing product. He/she is also responsible for ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in the kitchen and work areas while minimizing waste and maximizing the cost/production ratio. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.


What you will do as a Prep Brunch Cook


  • Follow all recipes for food items.
  • Ensure high quality and presentation of all food.
  • Meet to discuss daily production and preparation plan with the Chef de Cuisine & Sous Chef.
  • Follow portion and cost controls.
  • Report all faulty equipment to the supervisor.
  • Work in direct coordination with all staff.
  • Follow health and safety regulations.
  • Prepare and cook menu as provided by the Chef de Cuisine & Sous Chef.
  • Follow all daily duty rosters.
  • Follow the FIFO method to maximize quality.
  • Maintain reasonable cooking time during line work.


What you will need for the role


  • Manual dexterity is required to use knives and kitchen appliances.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Transport up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds regularly.
  • This position will spend 100% of the time standing.
  • Must be able to work a schedule including early morning, days, nights, weekends & holidays
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertaining to the restaurant industry.
  • Highly flexible, with solid communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Acquire and maintain a strong knowledge of trends in the food industry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food service and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, preparation and presentation required.
  • 2-3 years of cooking experience in the cooking trade
  • Self-motivated, with a positive attitude and a consistent display of professionalism.
  • A culinary diploma/degree is an asset
  • Will be constantly exposed to high temperatures in the kitchen environment.
  • Highly effective teamwork skills.
  • Minimum eighteen (18) years of age to handle alcoholic beverages.
  • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills, including the ability to give directions and converse with customers.
