Position Description
  • Provide on-site (trade and non-trade specific) technical support so that contractual commitments are met, which includes maintenance and repair of the facility assets.
  • Maintenance and repair activity as per contractual requirements, relevant guidelines, legislation and codes.
  • Ensure safety to staff and public while at the facility.
  • Participation in on site coverage to ensure appropriate site coverage as per contractual compliance.
  • Assistance to other maintenance personnel.
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance and call-in tasks to be documented in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) using Ipad.

GENERAL AND TRADE SPECIFIC DUTIES not intended to be an all-inclusive list
  • Performs related duties as assigned by the Facility Manger or Supervisor.
  • Completing non-trade specific tasks as required (painting, wall patching, call system maintenance, furniture moves, light bulb replacement, window/door repairs, replacing ceiling tiles etc.).
  • Maintains plumbing equipment utilizing trade skills to repair/replace items as required (i.e. toilets, sinks, taps, pipes, valves, drains etc.).
  • Daily and weekly rounds of mechanical spaces.
  • Installs new systems and equipment as required as funds are available including planning the job, acquiring materials and commissioning of final product.
  • Cleans and maintains all tools, equipment and assigned shop space.
  • Obligation to review/commit to applicable customer and Honeywell policies and procedures at all times.
  • Responds to emergency situations such as fire alarms and drills, On Call issues and building closure due to weather or building contingencies. Incumbent responsible to fulfill on call schedule as determined by the manager.
  • Responds to demand work orders as generated by CMMS, to ensure minimal disruption to site operations.
  • Determining work methods in accordance with government codes and by-laws, manufacturer's specifications; planning, laying out and roughing in work; referring to blueprints and diagrams; estimating material and labor requirements.
  • Complete and document all assigned work orders and preventative maintenance as per OEM and SOP’s in a timely manner, ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • Always adhere to all safety regulations.
  • Use hand/power tools and testing equipment.
  • Understand and interpret schematics. Update schematics as required.
  • Prioritizing work based on assigned urgency of task and potential penalty value.
  • Maintains and repairs mechanical systems (i.e. various styles of pumps, steam systems, grease traps, water controls, trap seal primer system, hot water heating equipment, glycol systems, RO systems, water softening systems, humidification systems, air handling systems, fire suppression systems, expansion tanks, water chemical treatment systems, filtration systems etc.) by inspecting, analyzing, adjusting, replacing and refurbishing.
  • Monitors, operates and takes corrective actions on the Building Automation System including checking the system regularly for irregularities, alarms and system function ensuring normal operations and customer comfort.
  • Proper completion of documentation in CMMS for all assigned work
  • Maintain confidentiality and release of information in accordance with hospital policy at all times.
  • Assist other maintenance staff with any work not requiring specific license as required.
  • Isolating equipment mechanically and electrical for inspection and repair (lock tag try procedures).
  • Monitoring alarms, gauges and other instruments.
YOU MUST HAVE
  • The successful candidate will be required to provide a recent police check at their expense.
  • Immunization (including COVID-19 vaccination) as required by the customer and in accordance with the Public Health Act
  • High School Diploma.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial plumbing and heating preferred
  • Plumbing Certification as a licensed plumber in Ontario (306A License)
WE VALUE
  • Attention to detail and accuracy are essential when interpreting blueprints/drawings
  • Experience with large building HVAC central systems, chillers and boilers
  • Preference will be given to those with a Building Environmental Operator Certification and/or a Stationary Engineer Certification
  • Previous experience working directly with customers in a service environment
  • Experience working within a healthcare industry is preferred
  • Effective communication including customer follow up
  • Experience with large pumps and hydronic systems
  • Experience using hand and power tools,
