Ml Engineer / Backend Engineer

What you'll do:

• Analyze, refactor, and improve performance of existing algorithms, pre-processing and data augmentation strategies; and,
• Participate in sprint planning, estimation, code reviews, and take ownership of deliverables.
• Data acquisition, cleaning, and transformation in order to prepare training datasets;
• Take ownership of data projects and ML implementation from start to finish, which includes building data pipelines, designing, deploying & maintaining production quality ML models in collaboration with stakeholders;

Qualifications:

• Experience in software development, ETL, and data manipulation;
• Understanding of foundational statistical concepts and ML algorithms: linear/logistic regression, Random Forest, boosting, XGBM, k-NN, Naive Bayes, Decision Trees, SVM, etc.;
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, and ETL tools;
• Expertise writing code in Python applications (e.g. Django, Flask or similar);
• Integration experience (e.g. ETL, ELT) with Python;
• Familiarity with scientific computing libraries (e.g. numpy, pandas, scikit); and,
• Understanding and experience with containerizing deep learning models for deployment purposes.
• Familiarity with Git;

This is a remote position. While applications are accepted from anywhere across Canada, applicants within reasonable travel distance of the national capital will be prioritized.
