Position Overview

The Mechanical Engineering Project Manager position is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and innovative organization! Calian Composites is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineering Project Manager who will be involved in gathering customer requirements and translating them into project/product requirements. You will oversee a team of Mechanical Engineers, Mechanical Technologists, and Fabricators that bring concepts and ideas to fruition. You will provide oversight to project team members, be responsible for multiple related projects, as well as plan, manage and execute the project life cycle, including ensuring projects are on budget, on schedule, and meet the scope and quality standards of Calian and our customers.

The successful candidate will be required to work on-site at our Calian Composites facility in Saskatoon, SK.

Responsibilities

• You will monitor and control progress on the project, providing weekly updates on schedule and budget to senior management and internal updates to clients
• You will comply with existing internal processes and procedures and assist in the development and maintenance of new processes and procedures
• You will manage critical vendors involve in the projects, including contract negotiation and review
• You will translate customer preferences into project/product requirements to use in design scoping
• You will conduct monthly executive project reviews and project balancing
• You will coordinate the quotation and bid process for customer proposals including consolidation of technical and price inputs from engineering, production, external suppliers and services
• You will map project deliverables in the creation of work breakdown structures (WBS)
• You will setup project authorizations outlining schedules, budgets, risks and project plans

Qualifications

• Experience managing a project budget
• Demonstrated experience in project management
• Demonstrated team-building skills coupled with excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
• PMP or equivalent project management training is considered an asset
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related education and experience
• Demonstrated experience in managing multiple customers and coordination of multiple projects
• Experience with manufacturing related projects and composite design is an asset
