Your opportunity
Dillon’s Communities and Environment technical group is looking for an Junior Water Resources Engineer/Designer to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.
At Dillon, we operate as one team. This position is available at our Dillon London, Windsor, Hamilton, Calgary, Saint John or Halifax offices with a preference given to the London office.
Responsibilities
What your day will look like
Coordination and Design
  • Provide assistance to project managers with multidisciplinary and water resources engineering projects in support of stormwater management, municipal servicing, hydrologic and hydraulic assessments, preliminary and detail design assignments within the transportation, land development, private industry, and municipal infrastructure business sectors.
  • Completion of watershed and sub-watershed scale hydrology investigations and hydraulic assessments of open channel and closed pipe systems.
  • Development, coordination, and participation infield inspection, reconnaissance, data collection and monitoring programs.
  • Coordination for water resources contributions to a wide range of small to large multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.
Business Development
  • Contribute to business development activities including the preparation of project proposals and presentations, and client need research.
  • Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request.
Learning and Development
  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development.
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.
Qualifications
What you will need to succeed
  • A degree in civil or water resources engineering or applicable technical degree or diploma
  • One to two years’ work experience on water resources engineering projects, although entry level staff will also be considered
Experience
  • Knowledge of the Drainage Regulations and land drainage projects would be also be considered an asset.
  • Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with local regulations, policies, guidelines, and provincial and municipal permit requirements for environmental agencies.
  • Experience in working on detailed design of stormwater management features.
  • F amiliarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling systems that may include professional working experience with HEC-RAS, XPSWMM, InfoWorks ICM, PCSWMM, and others.
  • Experience in the design of stormwater management systems, culverts, bridges, sewers and open channel systems.
