Journeymen / Apprentice Powerline Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair power lines and cables that run between distribution electrical systems, towers, and poles
• Adhere to Forbes Bros Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations
• Maintain and repair overhead and underground power lines and cables, and other associated equipment such as insulators, conductors, lightning arrestors, switches, transformers, and lighting systems
• Climb different types of structures and possess the necessary tools to do so
• Splice, solder and insulate conductors and related wiring to connect power distribution networks
• Assemble, erect, and maintain steel, wood or concrete poles, towers, and guy wires

• Working from heights and confined spaces
• Perform other tasks related to this function as assigned
• Understand daily activities, assess site hazards, ensure hazards are eliminated and/or controlled and communicated to all workers on site

What We Are Looking For

• Valid Class 1A driver's license, an asset
• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of Pre-Access D&A testing, presenting a valid Driver's License and an acceptable drivers abstract
• Journeyperson with a minimum of three (3) years of experience or 3rd or 4th year Apprentice
• Journeyperson Certificate/Red Seal Certificate or recognized Apprentice Card
• Able to distinguish between colors
• Ability to work in field/site with travel and work hour flexibility to accommodate to remote/site work schedules
• Strong communication skills with the ability to take and/or provide direction
• Located in Yorkton, SK region or willing to relocate
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labor inclusive of heavy lifting, climbing at various heights and ability to work in in varying weather conditions and environments
