Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Residential Carpenter with a strong background in renovation and remodeling work to join our team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in handling the unique challenges presented by older homes and be knowledgeable in all aspects of residential construction. As a Residential Carpenter specializing in renovation and remodeling, you will be responsible for repairing, updating, and enhancing wooden structures and components within residential buildings, ensuring high-quality workmanship and adherence to building codes and safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to understand project requirements and plan renovation or remodeling work accordingly.

Assess and diagnose structural issues in older homes, such as rot, termite damage, water damage, or foundation problems, and develop appropriate solutions.

Measure, cut, and shape lumber and other building materials, using various tools and equipment such as saws, drills, and hammers.

Repair, replace, or reinforce damaged or defective wooden components, such as floor systems, walls, roofs, and door/window frames, ensuring proper alignment, leveling, and plumb.

Retrofit and modernize older homes, including updating electrical and plumbing systems, improving insulation, and installing energy-efficient windows and doors.

Install interior and exterior trim, including baseboards, crown molding, door/window casings, and decorative accents, while preserving the architectural integrity and historical elements of the home.

Collaborate with other construction professionals, such as architects, engineers, and plumbers, to ensure seamless integration of renovation and remodeling work.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all relevant safety regulations and building codes.

Communicate effectively with clients, addressing any concerns or questions and ensuring satisfaction with the completed work.

Continuously expand knowledge and stay up-to-date with the latest trends, techniques, and materials in residential renovation and remodeling.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship, vocational program, or relevant work experience in carpentry preferred.

Proven experience as a residential carpenter, with a focus on renovation and remodeling work in older homes.

Strong knowledge of construction materials, tools, and techniques, as well as building codes and safety regulations.

Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex structural issues in older homes.

Detail-oriented, with strong craftsmanship and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent


Salary: $24.60-$39.32 per hour
