Position Summary


Magellan Aerospace, has an exciting new opportunity for a Jet Engine Technician. The successful incumbent will provide 2nd line J85-CAN-40 engine maintenance & Test Cell support to RCAF 431 Squadron. Please note this position is based out of the Canadian Forces Base in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.


Essential Responsibilities


  • Participate in Mobile Repair Parties (MRPs) as required
  • Carry out assigned J85-CAN-40 engine inspections including periodic inspections, out of sequence inspections (OSIs), engine build-up/tear down & special inspections, modifications in accordance with applicable maintenance publications
  • Prepare technical documents (UCR’s, messages, incident reports, draft MOD, SI, etc.) for submission through 431 Sqn AMCRO
  • Perform shop housekeeping duties
  • Provide on-the-job training to 431 Squadron personnel
  • Carry out build-up & post test cell build-up of engines, test cell engine runs, functional testing, adjustments & snag rectification IAW applicable maintenance publications
  • Liaise with 431 Sqn AMCRO & LCMM
  • Assist in annual test cell calibrations
  • Provide weekly engine status updates to 431 Sqn Log Control
  • Complete all maintenance forms completely & correctly
  • Carry out inspection & build-up / tear down of J85-CAN-40 engines and jet pipe assemblies, IAW applicable maintenance publications
  • Travel 1-2 times per calendar year


Position Requirements


  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, set priorities, multi-task, work independently and as part of a team
  • Working knowledge of DND protocol on military bases in Canada
  • Must be able to gain high level, security clearance in order to work on DND bases
  • Interpretation of maintenance publication, drawings and technical data
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of engine test cell procedures and inspection procedures
  • College diploma – Aircraft Maintenance or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-3 yrs. experience aircraft maintenance preferably J85-CAN-40 jet engine
  • Clearly understand end user requirements with the DND operational environment
  • Good computer skills
