Job Description
Are you passionate about auditing information technology (IT) systems and infrastructure? We are looking for an Information Technology (IT) Senior Internal Auditor to join our dynamic internal audit team who strives to be a source of assistance in the performance of a variety of information technology (IT) audits within WorkSafeBC.


In this role, you'll report to the Internal Audit manager and be responsible for the timely performance of assigned assurance and consulting services, with IT focus. Periodically, you'll participate in non-IT audit engagements and may be designated as the Auditor in Charge (AIC) for assurance and consulting engagements, and internal infrastructure projects.


How you'll make a difference: You'll help ensure departments across WorkSafeBC are operating with acceptable risks and proper controls.


Where you'll work


WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.


In this role, you'll work primarily from your B.C. home and be on-site at a minimum of once per quarter in our Richmond office or based on operational needs.


  • Recommend, create, and implement process improvements within the Internal Audit department
  • Present information in oral and written format to all levels of the organization
  • Perform detailed risk assessments and audits or reviews, which include, developing IT Audit plans and IT Audit programs, evaluating risks and controls, providing recommendation or advice, and communicating engagement results to clients
  • Supervise and mentor staff and manage client relations when designated as the Auditor in Charge (AIC)
  • Provide timely, professional service to our clients, understand and anticipate their needs, and adapt responses through creative, and engaging approaches

  • Explain information clearly, concisely, and accurately in both written and verbal form
  • Manage time and resources efficiently so deadlines and objectives are met
  • Recognize and critically analyze issues, identify governance, risks and control gaps, and provide practical recommendations
  • Use discretion and tact in handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Apply internal audit techniques and concepts, and have general knowledge of risk, governance, and control frameworks (e.g., COSO, COBIT) and IT Standards (e.g., NIST, ITIL, ISO/IEC 27000)
  • Work in a systematic and disciplined approach in accordance with department and International Professional Practices Framework (Internal Audit Standards), particularly, working paper and report writing standards
Your background and experience


  • A professional certification such as Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or another related IT designation
  • A minimum of three years of experience conducting information systems audits or assessments
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (intermediate Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud computing platform is considered an asset
  • Experience with audit management software and data analytics are considered assets
  • A bachelor's degree or master's degree in computer science, management information systems or any related discipline
