TITLE: Interior Design Consultant
DEPARTMENT: Linwood Construction Services (LCS)
LOCATION: Toronto (North York), Ontario (requires travel within Ontario)
REPORTS TO: Interior Design Manager
POSITION:Full-time
SCOPE OF POSITION:
Linwood Construction Services (LCS) is the corporate construction management division of Linwood Homes operating in the province of Ontario. LCS provides complete residential construction solutions to Linwood customers and its network of dealers. LCS contracts directly with the homeowner & provides clients with the necessary support, design, materials and services to construct and finish their new home as required.
As a Linwood Interior Design Consultant (LI) you are responsible for the completion of home interiors constructed by LCS. The position will require development and management of the LI supply chain and trade network delivering quality products/services that meets Linwood’s high standards as well as dove-tail with the LCS construction schedule. The position requires client consultations, guidance through the product selection & signoff stage, budgeting, scheduling trades and conduct the Pre Delivery Inspection (PDI) with clients.
This position will provide support to Linwood Sales, Technical Support, Customer Service and the LCS Management teams.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and operate the LI products & finishing program as described above.
• Manage customer expectations.
• Manage direct reports (suppliers & trades).• Recruit, qualify, hire, manage and support installation trades.
• Responsible for timely completion of all LCS projects to Linwood standards.
• Maintain on-line construction schedules for each project; Buildertrend Software.
• Completion of client change requests and subcontractor work orders.
• Enforce & practice all LCS written job-site Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) policies.
• Schedule and conduct required job-site inspections and meetings, maintain reports.
• Maintain the New Home Warranty Program (Tarion).
• Ensure required municipal inspections are scheduled and carried out as required, maintain records.
• Provide ongoing feedback to the LCS construction costing database.
• Actively participate in scheduled LCS management review meetings.
• Provide regular project status reports to LCS management.
• Ensure customer progress payments are coordinated with the construction schedule and LCS payment terms.
COMPETENCIES:
• Project management; strong organizational skills with the ability to collaborate with team members, suppliers & trades.
• Thorough knowledge in residential construction technology.
• Strong understanding and comprehension of engineered drawings, details and technical data.
• Practical knowledge of the Ontario Building Code.
• Thorough knowledge of the Tarion Home Warranty Program and PDI process.
• Business/financial planning & management.
• Quality management; home inspections & orientations.
• Time management & maintaining time sensitive schedules.
• Advanced communication skills; verbal, written & graphic communication.
• Computer skills (general to advanced); Microsoft Office & AutoCAD.
DESIRABLE EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Professional diploma or degree in Interior Design/Architecture or equivalent.
• Experience in new home construction, minimum 5 years.
• Experience working with a Provincial Home Warranty Program (Tarion).
• Contract development and negotiations.
This is a permanent, full-time position based on typical weekday business hours, occasional overtime hours are required. LCS provides competitive salary and benefits package. Travel is required, a vehicle is mandatory.
