Established in 1976, the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution. These Include The Following Broad Range Of Accountabilities


As the educational leader in the classroom, the Welding Instructor will be responsible for delivering SIIT programs and curricula with the purpose of promoting student success. This position is to organize and implement instructional activities which create a learning environment that guides and provides the greatest opportunity for student success. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate.


  • Ensure a positive, diverse and inclusive work and learning environment
  • Complete all course-required materials including attendance records and course evaluations
  • Deliver courses relating to: employment readiness, academic refresher, communications, career action planning; overview of Welding, and basic hands-on skill development in the shop
  • Use appropriate methods of evaluating and recording student progress within set time frames
  • Maintain classroom and shop discipline and, if necessary, recommend action to applicable supervisor regarding student behavior, including formal student disciplinary action
  • Adhere to and promote academic regulations and SIIT policies and procedures
  • Make recommendations to modify course objectives, course outlines, curriculum and evaluation procedures

Required Qualifications and Experience: Candidate must be a Red Seal Journeyperson Welder; must have excellent welding skills in performing, Oxy-welding, GMAW and SMAW procedures. An understanding of adult learning theories and principles is considered an asset. Knowledge of First Nations culture and organizations is considered an asset. Prior experience teaching First Nations Adults is an asset. First Aid and CPR certification considered an asset.


As this position is considered safety sensitive, the incumbent will be subject to testing as per SIIT's Alcohol and Substances policy.
