PRINCIPAL DUTIES


•    In support of QHSE Director and the Manufacturing Operations Manager, implement an effective Andritz Hydro Canada Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System at the Gate Plant in Paris, Ontario 
•    Develops & maintains effective HSE risk assessments, safe work practices, lock-out procedures and facility prevention programs in compliance with Company standards, customer requirements and Provincial & Federal regulations;
•    Implements a 5S program in the facility;
•    Carries out and records regular safety checks and safety inspections;
•    Provides Tool-Box talks to employees; Develops, conducts and coordinates required HSE trainings, including E-Learning tool;
•    Support implementation of preventive maintenance program; 
•    Responsible for the hazardous material management program;
•    Primary support in case of HSE issues. Coordinates investigation and performs root cause analysis; Develop corrective actions with shop management and follow-up on implementation
•    Ensure proper incident reporting internally and with WSIB;
•    Coordinates first aid rescue, first aid responders and fire protection programs; 
•    Establishes and maintains internal and external relationships regarding HSE topics; 
•    Support HSE internal and external audits;
•    Coordinates Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings;
•    Prepare HSE statistics and Performs HSE reviews with management;
•    Responsible for ensuring proper environmental compliance and reporting for the facility;
•    Lead environmental improvement initiatives with local management to meet our ESG corporate targets
•    Maintains ISO 45001, COR, ISO 14001 and support HSE certifications;
•    Coordinate common HSE actions with other workshop locations
•    Coordinates with the Senior HSE Advisor for technical HSE support;
•    Coordinates with the QHSE Manager for updates of the HSE management system.
  
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 


•    University Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Relations or any other relevant field of study OR Technical College Degree in Environment, Hygiene and Work Safety combined with significant related experience;
•    More than 3 years of experience in a role with health and safety responsibilities in a manufacturing/industrial work environment;
•    Member of the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (CRSP) – an asset; 
•    Experience in a role with human resources responsibilities an asset;
•    Knowledge and understanding of the OHSA and worker compensation legislation; 
•    Strong communication skills (spoken  & written) at all levels of the organization;
•    Auditor and trainer skills;
•    Proven leadership ability within a team context;
•    Excellent problem solving skills (root cause analysis expertise), sound judgment, initiative & creativity;
•    Willingness to travel if necessary.
