We are currently seeking Casual Health Care Aide's to join our team at Cedarwood Station in Airdrie, AB. Our Health Care Aids are responsible for hands-on personal care services and light housekeeping. No lifts or transfers are required in Independent Living - this means no heavy lifting! Starting wage for this position is $17.77 per hour.

Responsibilities:

• Working with residents to meet care requirements
• Follow Care Plans and report any changes or concerns
• Other duties as assigned to support operational requirements
• Support personal care activities; dressing, bathing, incontinence
• Respond to medical emergencies in a calm manner
• Demonstrate awareness of accident and injury prevention, through safe work practices and procedures
• Ensure accordance with provincial continuing care health service standards, legislation, codes, regulations, and employment and safety statutes
• Performs light housekeeping in common areas
• Demonstrate ongoing competence utilizing knowledge, skill, judgment, and evidence-based practice in caring for aging adult is vital in this role

What you need to succeed:

• Completion of provincial Health Care Aide certification
• Registered with provincial health care registry
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend, squat, kneel and lift 25 pounds
• Superior organizational skills with the ability to handle multi-resident requests
• Must have the confidence and ability to work independently
• Demonstrate infection control procedures
• Experience in a residential care setting is preferred
• Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and problem solve
• Superior oral and written communication skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with peers, residents, visitors and operational partners
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts
• Display compassion, education, proficiency, and experience while assisting residents

Conditions of Employment

• Clear Police Information Check
• Completion of CPR and First Aid
• COVID-19 vaccination proof. This requirement may be waived if you have received an exemption through the provincial government.
