We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking individual to join our team as General Labourer Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. As a General Labourer, you will be responsible for providing support across various areas of our metal recycling operations. Your role will involve assisting with the handling, sorting, and processing of metal materials, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the work area, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols. This position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist in maintaining accurate records and documentation of materials received, processed, or shipped, ensuring that all necessary information is recorded correctly
  • Sort and segregate metal materials based on type, size, and quality, ensuring proper categorization for processing and recycling purposes
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations, effective communication, and a safe working environment
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and industry standards. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and follow safe work practices at all times
  • Operate basic equipment and tools used in metal recycling operations, such as balers, shears, cutting torches, or grinders, following proper operating procedures and safety guidelines
  • Assist in the handling, sorting, and preparation of metal materials for recycling. This may include lifting, carrying, and moving materials manually or using equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks
  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures related to metal recycling processes, including the proper use of equipment, handling of materials, and compliance with safety regulations
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area, including sweeping, removing debris, and disposing of waste materials in designated containers


Qualifications


  • Basic knowledge of metal recycling processes and materials is advantageous
  • Ability to follow instructions, work independently or as part of a team, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding situations
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse team members
  • Ability to perform manual tasks involving lifting, carrying, and moving heavy objects or materials
  • Previous experience in a physically demanding role, such as general labour, construction, or warehouse work, is preferred
  • Previous experience in a Metal Recycling facility considered an asset
  • Solid understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to manual labor and equipment operation
