Located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, we are experiencing rapid global growth. GIT is currently recruiting to fulfill this quality role to further support the scale up of the Company.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Manufacturing and Quality Control Manager, the General Labourer will operate machines and mix chemicals to prepare batches of marine coatings (paint).As a member of a small team, employees are all responsible for the success of our company and will be expected to take on many different tasks and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

This person will be responsible for, or provide assistance to, other members of the GIT team performing, the following activities:

• Responsible for receiving and shipping pallets of drums and bags of chemical products
• Maintaining and cleaning GIT facilities and equipment including shop floor, offices, and washroom
• Performing general and preventative maintenance of production and laboratory equipment
• Assembly and disassembly of furniture
• Performing shipping/receiving activities including packaging, labeling, and boxing
• Spraying paints in lab scale and preparing substrates
• Setting up and cleaning up at project sites
• Operate forklift during routine performance of duties
• Keep inventory assets up to date
• Initiate, review and follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility
• Supplies and maintains required hand tools
• Organizing machine shop and tools and equipment
• 5S initiatives and continuing improvement on designed areas
• Preparing metal and plastic test substrates using orbital sander and other tools

Qualifications

• Physical abilities; Lift 24 kg, climb stairs.
• Experience: Prior industry experience is considered an asset
• Specific skills: computer skills including Microsoft Office software, ability to read basic measuring instruments and carry out basic arithmetic operations
• Forklift license
• Personal characteristics: team player, excellent oral communication, dependability, reliability, punctuality
