Job Purpose:
The New Digital Platform (NDP) and Market-Creating Innovation (MCI) teams are at the centre of WVC’s innovation hub. We are focused on building a digitally enabled organization and exploring new engagement and market opportunities to help everyone be a philanthropist. We work in agile with a lean startup approach and design thinking, asking our team of developers, designers, advisors, and experts to think beyond and find effective and efficient technology-infused solutions that put people at the centre of everything that we deliver. Our work will be instrumental in laying the foundation to build a new digital ecosystem for WVC.
As an Application Developer, your primary responsibility is to develop and maintain digital solutions.
You will work closely with the product owner, technical architect, and product designer to understand the user experience and design requirements, and translate them into functional code that meets the organization's goals, strategic priorities, and user needs. Your role is critical in ensuring that the platform is developed according to best practices, is scalable, and meets the performance and security standards required for a global user base.
You will be responsible for writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code, and for conducting code reviews and testing to ensure that the platform is stable, reliable, and free of defects. You will also be responsible for integrating with third-party APIs, services, and tools as needed, and for developing and maintaining documentation for your code and technical processes.
As a key member of the incubator team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize new features, improvements, and technical requirements, and to ensure that the platform is launched successfully, meeting the needs of its users and achieving its business goals. Your ability to think creatively, communicate effectively, and collaborate with cross-functional teams will be essential to the success of the platform and the incubator team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Continuously learn and stay up-to-date with new technologies and programming languages.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and test digital solutions.
  • Build custom software solutions using web technologies and collaborate with scrum teams to implement new features and strategically plan for future products.
  • Design and deliver full-stack digital solutions and to change and maintain existing programs, providing a finished, professional software product.
  • Troubleshoot and debug applications to identify and fix issues.
  • Working on significant issues and recommending digital solutions to challenges requiring complex technical trade-offs.
  • Provide technical support to end-users as needed.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of data and software systems.
  • Work independently with minimal guidance to create digital solutions that are based on defined hypotheses.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code and maintain technical documentation.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of coding standards.
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle for the production of software and applications, including activities like requirements analysis; writing, building, and deploying software using software design principles.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of full stack web development experience.
  • Familiarity with database management systems (such as MySQL).
  • Excellent data analysis skills and a team player.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Familiarity in API design and development and delivering RESTful Services.
  • Knowledge of software development principles and methodologies (such as Agile or Scrum).
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Experience developing applications in one or more programming languages (such as PHP, Python, or JavaScript).
  • Experience with version control systems (such as Git).
