NVA Canada is recruiting for a Field Services Engineer at its Support Center in Ontario. The Field Services Engineer (FSE) is responsible for converting veterinary hospital legacy IT infrastructure and systems to NVA standard IT infrastructure and systems. This person must be eager to learn, grow, and to work both independently and as part of a team.


The FSE will travel to different facilities nationwide to install, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain veterinary technology products and systems. They must identify, analyze, and repair system failures, and then order and replace parts as needed. Be knowledgeable and professionally answer customer questions about product features, issues and upgrades. Performs start up testing and customer training on features and general maintenance of product.


Essential Job Functions


  • Manage and support the deployment of physical and virtual servers, workstations, and network devices.
  • Create and maintain process and procedure documentation as well as end-user guides needed for continuous improvement.
  • Be able to travel regularly and possibly for weeks at a time. Ability to work long hours as needed.
  • Managing third-party IT infrastructure vendors for onsite cabling, wireless access point installation, and deployment of ancillary support infrastructure.
  • Part of a team responsible for advanced data gathering (e.g., site surveys), integration planning, and onsite project management.
  • Act as the primary technology resource, or team contributor, for onsite technology upgrades, refreshes, and new network builds of veterinary facilities. Delivering complete and sound network environments including LAN, WAN, VM, wireless, and software platforms.

  • Experience activating and testing ISP circuits, creating IP schemas, VLANS, DHCP
  • Layer 2 and 3 networking (wired and wireless) switches, Access points, controllers.
  • Experienced with the network field services (Desktop Windows / Mac applications and operating systems/Microsoft Windows Server/Active Directory: concepts, structure, objects, Group Policy, Sites, etc.)
  • You must be a "people person" and have a sense of humor. Half the battle with IT is communicating with non-technical people in a way that does not insult or intimidate them.
  • In-depth knowledge of WAN/LAN architecture and configuration
  • Be an ambassador for IT, working across NVA and with clients, to provide effective communication on IT matters.
  • Ready to contribute towards the development of team and department goals and procedures.

Experience/Education


  • Preferred experience in veterinary or medical field, or large scale retail expansion.
  • Internal/company certification on specialized systems.
  • Typically requires 4+ years of related field services experience.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+ certification, HDI Certification.
