The Opportunity: Director of High Performance Operations

The Director of High Performance Operations will work under the leadership of the Chief Sport Officer, overseeing the operational planning and implementation of Cycling Canada’s sustainable performance programming and projects. Leading a team of project managers and coordinators, the successful candidate will oversee the development of yearly performance program and project budgets and will ensure that all programming and projects are delivered effectively, on time and on budget.


Reporting Structure

The Director of High Performance Operations reports directly to the Chief Sport Officer and collaborates with the Head Coach and the Director of Performance Services.

Specific Responsibilities


The Director of High Performance Operations will support the strategic and operational objectives of Cycling Canada’s sustainable performance programming with responsibilities in several key areas:


  1. Leading and mentoring the team of Project Managers and Project Coordinators
  2. Lead and oversee the development of the yearly programming and project budgets in collaboration with the Chief Sport Officer, Director of Performance Services and Head Coach
  3. Overseen by the Chief Sport Officer, and assisted by Project Managers, lead the ongoing oversight of budget expenditure monitoring to ensure maximum operational efficiency within performance programming and project operations.
  4. In collaboration with Head Coach and the Director of Performance Services, ensure the effective planning and implementation of all performance programming and project logistics and administration
  5. Setting and monitoring logistics and budget KPI’s in collaboration with the Chief Sport Officer
  6. Collaborate with Chief Sport Officer, Director of Performance Services and Head Coach on funding partner submissions, relationships, and reporting
  7. Assisting the Chief Sport Officer with the implementation of Cycling Canada strategic plan including driving collaboration and alignment between disciplines, as well as between Cycling Canada and individual PSO’s
  8. Contribute toward private source fundraising and business development activities to help drive and diversify program funding
  9. Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders in cycling in Canada.


Deliverables

  1. Develop and implement aligned and consistent systems for real time reporting and business intelligence.
  2. Optimize efficiencies of current project management platform (Asana).
  3. Facilitate effective collaboration between the High Performance Operations team and
  4. Cycling Canada’s National Team Coaches and Performance Services staff.


Qualifications

  • Strong organizational, administrative and problem-solving skills
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience working in High Performance Sport
  • The ability to work in both official languages is an asset
  • Thrives as a member of a team
  • Proven leader and excellent communicator
  • Travel
  • Proven ability to deliver world class programing on time and on budget
  • Extensive domestic and International travel may be required of the Director of High Performance Operations in order to support Cycling Canada’s National Team programming.
  • Strong financial management skills
