Job Description

Looking to be a part of a highly innovative organization in your next opportunity!? Our client is currently looking for a Database Administrator to join the team remotely for a 6-month contract! Duration: 6 months


The Database Administrator will be responsible for:

  • Effectively manage monitoring and alerting tools, including PowerShell scripts, Redgate, and logic monitor.
  • Document technical requirements, justifications, and recommendations to maintain accurate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Develop automation for database processes, tasks, and procedures to enhance efficiency.
  • Install and configure database servers (MS SQL 2016+) using various high availability technologies such as Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances.
  • Adhere to operational policies and processes that comply with ITIL standards.
  • Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, patching, and optimization of the databases.
  • Provide direct operational support for the entire production database infrastructure, including high availability and database replication.
  • Collaborate with the DBA team and participate in the on-call support rotation effectively.
  • Perform root cause analysis and proactively offer recommendations to prevent issues from arising.
  • Analyze, solve, and resolve issues in real-time, ensuring end-to-end problem resolution.
  • Manage and operate large-scale critical production database systems efficiently.


The required qualifications for the Database Administrator are:

  • 7+ years of experience with MS SQL Server versions 2022, 2019, 2017, and 2016.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting SQL Server performance issues, such as CPU, Memory, Disk I/O, Deadlocks, Blockings/Lockings, and query tuning for slow/long running queries.
  • Technical knowledge and experience with Windows OS platforms from 2008 to 2019.
  • Hands-on experience with MS SQL Server database upgrades, patching, and comprehensive testing of all aspects of database refreshes.
  • Experience with tasks like Import & Export, Backup & Recovery, and Database maintenance plans, including Indexing, Statistics, and Database Integrity tasks.
  • Proficient in SQL statement writing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in T-SQL database programming and Windows PowerShell scripting.
  • Strong knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Servers, such as Always On availability groups, Log Shipping, Transactional Replication, and Windows Server Failover Clustering.
