Bistro/Cafe
JOB SUMMARY: Bistro/Cafe staff are responsible for providing excellent customer service, producing quality beverages, serving baked goods, and accurately completing transactions using our point of sale system. Bisto/Cafe staff are also responsible for completing assigned production lists and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the cafe. In addition, they may be called upon to stock, maintain, and clean Bistro/Café sales floor and service areas as well as receive orders and maintain all Bistro/Café storage areas. All Bistro/Cafe staff are expected to assist in achieving departmental goals.

Essential Functions
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively respond to Café/Bistro phone calls.
- Direct customer suggestions, comments, and complaints to the appropriate staff member.
- Assist customers with finding items.
- Provide prompt, courteous, knowledgeable customer service.
- Know and understand policies and products in order to answer customer questions clearly, completely and concisely.
- Offer suggestions for purchase, and nutrition information to customers.
- Wear approved attire and nametag while on duty.
- Balance a cash drawer at the end of each shift. Follow security procedures for handling cash and other forms of tender.
- Ensure floors are clean and safe. Remove garbage and recycling according to schedule.
- Assist in maintaining cooler, freezer, and store room organization.
- Maintain well-stocked and clean service counter, storage and display areas.
- Receive and stock food and paper deliveries following established procedures.
- Communicate with supervisor regarding production and equipment needs.
- Clean, stock, and support Café/Bistro and service areas as directed.
- Clean equipment according to schedule or as directed.
- Participate in evaluating, updating, and creating menu and beverage items.
- Check sell by dates. Record out of date losses.
- Ensure proper use of all production tools and equipment.
- Ring customers' purchases efficiently and accurately. Use the correct prices and codes, and ring items under the correct department.
- Wash and store production tools and equipment following established procedures.
- Follow proper shut-down and opening routines.
- Other projects and tasks as assigned by the Café/Bistro Lead or Supervisors.
- Accurately execute all Bistro recipes and prep as assigned.
- Prep and cook food only as assigned on production lists and directed by Lead and Supervisor
- Ensure freshness and quality by properly rotating prep and back stock.
- Strong verbal communication skills

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Deli manager and other managers.

- JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- Attend all required department and storewide meetings and training sessions.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands
- Maintain knowledge of management and staff structure.
- Adhere to the safety policies of the department and store, including the proper use of all equipment.
- Adhere to store and department policies.
- Work cooperatively with co-workers throughout the store.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous natural foods experience
- Previous food handling experience
- Previous barista and/or juice bar experience preferred
- Clear spoken English and ability to accurately understand spoken voice
- Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, and rotating
- Ability to occasionally work in outdoor weather conditions
- Prolonged standing and walking
- Corrected vision to enable reading of small print
- Ability to lift and move 60 pounds frequently during a shift
- Occasional contact with mold, allergens, garbage.
- Ability to work near moving mechanical parts
