About Lite-1

We are a young creative group of multidisciplinary scientist and designers with the mission to build the next generation of sustainable dye and pigments grown by microorganisms as the dye factories of the future. Our innovation is a proprietary patented platform biotech that biofabricates customizable microbial dye to the need of end industry user. Our dyes reduce water pollution, are safe for workers as well as the ecosystem, and eliminate our dependence on non-renewable resources. The product offers an overhaul to the dye industry to shift from one of the preeminent polluters to a regenerative and more humane industry. Our main goal is to transform the dye industry from a toxic and hazardous industry to a clean, healthy, and circular one by introducing the future of dye manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with manager to set goals, track progress, and quickly pivot research
  • Compiling data from the experiments and designed studies and present them to the team
  • Design and validate molecular evolution processes to optimize the production yield of microbial dye which may include molecular biology, genetic switching, protein evolution, and bioinformatics
  • Optimize and modify the microorganisms through synthetic biology corresponding to the potential sources of feedstock • Develop, troubleshoot, and optimize experimental protocols and study design • Work with a variety of model and non-model microbial systems
  • Search scientific literature to select and modify methods and procedures most appropriate for genetic research goals
  • Work with variety of wild microorganisms, identify the strains, sequence, analyze the DNA
  • Engineering organisms for bio-fabrication and bio-manufacturing process of the microbial dye


Requirements:

  • Proficiency in the utilization of various gene/protein databases, sequence analysis tools, and computer skills
  • Broad knowledge in the field of microbiology as well as molecular biology
  • A proven track record of creative scientific accomplishment as evidenced by a strong publication and/or patent record
  • Hands-on experience with cloning, genetic recombineering, metabolic engineering
  • Demonstrated proficiency at experimental design, analysis, interpretation, and reporting
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize methods and identify and address bottlenecks
  • Experience with biochemistry would be a plus
  • Strong communication skills and abilities to work in a team environment
  • Ability to translate and apply new technologies or approaches to a lab setting
  • Ability to succeed in a dynamic, past-paced R&D environment
  • Minimum of a Masters in microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry or related fields *Please note this position is funded through a grant with strict eligibility parameters. Candidate must be under 30 OR graduated from their lates degree within the past 2 years*
