JABOUT US
The Native Women’s Association of Canada (NWAC) is a National Indigenous Organization representing the political voice of Indigenous women, girls and gender diverse people in Canada, inclusive of First Nations on and off reserve, status and non-status, disenfranchised, Métis and Inuit. An aggregate of Indigenous women’s organizations from across the country, NWAC was founded on the collective goal to enhance, promote and foster the social, economic, cultural and political well-being of Indigenous women within their respective communities and Canada societies.
THE ROLE
The POETA/Digispark Project is an exciting initiative focused on empowering Indigenous Women, Two-Spirit, Transgender, and Gender-Diverse individuals by providing them with essential IT skills and job-related training. NWAC is looking for around 20 service providers to be trained as Trainers, and later work with Indigenous communities across the country. As a Trainer, you will play a crucial role in facilitating learning opportunities that lead to economic empowerment and educational growth for the target participants.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Selected candidates will be given 20 hours of paid training on Microsoft Community Training (MCT) platform and Service Agreement deliverables. After familiarizing yourself with the Microsoft Community Training (MCT) platform, delivery methods, and training program content to effectively lead virtual instruction and online learning, they may be selected to impart training to the communities, depending on their performance during the MCT training. These trainers will commit to work on the project until June 2024 and will facilitate Microsoft Community Training for 350 participants across the country, as a part of trainer groups. Your commitment for the task will be a total of 30 hours for training the communities, and another 30 hours for various preparatory, administrative and follow-up tasks.
REMUNERATION
Selected candidates will function as independent service providers (not employees) and will be paid a fixed consideration of $25 per hour. As service providers, they will not be eligible for any of the benefits available to NWAC employees.
QUALIFICATIONS
Post secondary qualifications are preferred. However, those still pursing their post-secondary education also may be considered. Basic knowledge of IT fundamentals is required, since the training is aimed at imparting computer literacy.
LOCATION
This is a fully remote opportunity. Open to Canadian residents only.

Applications, along with your resume and a covering letter indicating why you are interested in being a part of this project may be forwarded to the following email address:
Preference will be given to individuals of Indigenous ancestry, please self-identify.
We thank all applicants for their interest in this opportunity. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
