Viterra is seeking an Automation Specialist in our Regina office. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, maintenance, database management and systems support for the Human Machine Interface (HMI), Programmable Logic Control (PLC) system, as well as the maintenance of hardware and software in Operations.


Key Responsibilities


  • Analyze new developments in control system hardware/software, and provide recommendations to enhance the efficiency of facility operations.
  • Collaborate with a support team to provide troubleshooting guidance to Country Operations, Maintenance and Automation personnel.
  • Develop, document, test, and commission production repairs and major projects related to facility control systems.
  • Monitor and maintain real-time, historical, and support databases to company standards.
  • Ensure all company standards relating to automation development and support are followed.


Knowledge And Skills


  • Knowledge of the agricultural industry will be considered an asset.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience in both low and high-end automation development methods.


Education And Qualifications


  • Must be willing to travel approx. 50% of the time to operational sites within Canada.
  • Valid Class 5 vehicle operator’s license.
  • Experience in HMI, PLC systems design and/or software development would be considered an asset.
  • Journeyed certificate in Electrical or Instrumentation, a diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, or a bachelor’s level degree in Electronic Systems Engineering.
  • Minimum of four (4) years experience in an industrial environment.
