PURPOSE OF THE JOB
As a Team Lead, you will build distributed data processing solution and highly loaded database solutions for various businesses cases including reporting, product analytics, marketing optimization and financial reporting. Lead a team of experienced data engineers working on the foundation for decision-making at a company dealing with billions of events per day. Contribute as part of R&D self-organized team working in a challenging, innovative environment for our client.
Investigate, create, and implement the solutions for existing technical challenges. Provide guidance, instruction, direction, leadership to a development team with the purpose of achieving project goals.
Main Tasks And Responsibilities
Coordinates the work of direct subordinates;
Ensures effective communication between all stakeholders related to team’s area of responsibility and deliveries;
Ensure high quality development standards (unit/integration tests, etc.)
Makes team to work according to development process established on the project/within the team to take end-to-end ownership on their AOR and tasks;
Reports about area readiness/quality and raises red flags in crisis situations beyond his/her AOR;
Responsible for resolving crisis situations within his/her AOR;
Participates in software development implementation work;
Prepares functional and design specifications of computer-based systems;
Mentors more junior team members
Ensures the project team is provided with all required technical tools for efficient project delivery;
Responsible for accurate vacation, holiday planning and forecasts of a team according to delivery milestones and releases;
Oversees and evaluates team members’ performance according to established procedures;
Participates in the interview process for the recruitment of new team members.
Required Education And Experience
Must have:
University degree in Computer Related Sciences or similar
7+ years of professional experience
5+ years experience working in data engineering, business intelligence, or a similar role
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python
3+ years of experience in ETL orchestration and workflow management tools like Airflow, or Oozie
Expert in Database fundamentals, SQL and distributed computing
3+ years of experience with the Distributed data/similar ecosystem (Spark, Hive, Presto) and/or streaming technologies such as Kafka/Flink.
Experience working with Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, PostgreSQL and/or other DBMS platforms
Excellent communication skills and experience working with technical and non-technical teams
Nice to have:
Knowledge of reporting tools such as Tableau, Sigma, Superset and Looker
Comfortable working in fast paced environment, self starter and self organizing
Databrick/Spark tech stack, Snowflake, Python, PySpark, Spark SQL/SQL must be strong, Airflow, AWS, Presto (good to have)
Look for migration experience from Snowflake to Databrick/Spark pipeline"
