Visitor Services Receptionist Jobs in Ottawa Brook, Nova Scotia

Retail and customer service experience required.

Working experience in a large public venue dealing with the general public preferred.

Knowledge of the Beaty Biodiversity Museum preferred.

Greeting visitors to the Museum and processing admission fees, passes and memberships in accordance with an established rate schedule.

Performing opening and closing cash-out procedures accurately and generating cash reports as requested.

Receives, coordinates and responds to requests for group and tour bookings.

Strong time-management and organizational skills, including the ability to multitask, work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

Three years of experience involving booking appointments, coordinating meetings, record keeping, front line receptionist with call transfer responsibilities/switchboard operations.

Providing administrative support to the Building and Facilities Manager and the Building Supervisor including attending building meeting attendance and note taking;

Experience working with an Occupational Health and Safety committee would be preferred.

Participating on the building OHS Committee and helping to improve building safety procedures;

Issuing temporary building access cards and parking stalls and ensuring that security sign-in procedures are followed; and

Degree or vocational qualifications in a relevant discipline, like facilities management, building work, project management or health and safety.

Experience of risk management and championing health and safety at work.

Undertake duty management and first aid cover as required, including occasional weekend working.

Prepare COSHH assessments and the safe management of chemicals.

Substantial experience in a wide range of maintenance/DIY tasks, including practical skills in basic plumbing, electrical, joinery and grounds-keeping.

Excellent interpersonal communication skills with experience of engaging with a variety of audiences, including colleagues, contractors and the public.

Excellent data management and organizational skills

One year of experience in retail

Strong knowledge of retail sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques

$20/hour, with extended benefits following 3-month probationary period

Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic with a genuine desire to provide outstanding service

A strong interest in Ukrainian cultural heritage and Ukrainian Canadian history
